A bit of both, but mainly my own captures. I recently made a bunch of 
vcds for a tai chi group who did demonstrations at Southbank during the 
Buddha's Birthday celebrations. I also do a lot of video editing for 
personal use in windows. I'm not that good at it yet, but I'm getting 
better. When I next upgrade my CPU I'll probably get a large boost as 
I'll be able to do more previewing instead of spending half my time 
exporting files to find out that it's not quite what i wanted yet.

I've experimented with DVD ripping but I prefer to watch the dvds on the 
tv in the lounge room.
