Nitpick:  Unix and Linux aren't the way of the future.  They're the
way of the past.

Some people are not on the list to convince anyone about the relative
merits of anything.

I view the deliberate misspellings, when I notice them, as a evidence
of a semi-affectionate "love-hate" relationship with the product in
question.  

Since Microsoft Windows[1] has the largest market share, it's only
natural that it will have the lion's share of the nicknames; and since
this is a Unix- and Linux-oriented list, it's only natural you'll see
them used here.

[1] : It'd appear that even Microsoft can't decide what to call their
      products these days.
