It's certainly made me sit up & take notice.  Like many of us I'm sure I
work on facts and I want to know why dump could get stale data in some
cases.  Why it would get the stale data from the buffer cache but tar,
cpio and rsync wouldn't and why I wouldn't get the same stale data if I
just opened the relevant file.  Smacks of a bug in dump to me.
