This doesn't sound necessary.  Unless you are tweaking BIOS
stuff (which should happen rarely, if ever), why not just use
serial consoles via a simple cable to some nearby box with a
spare serial port -- most of the players in the cluster game
will have turned up with a box of their own that can do this.
After all, most of the time, you won't need a console at all.
