hmm, I doubt this, I would rather think its a mis-configuration
somewhere, as I have put 3rd party devices into macs without much
hassle (including scsi and ide hds, network cards, ram etc). So I would
check the scsi settings for the harddrive first. As for opening macs,
apart from the clamshell ibook (which took me two hours to replace my
mums hardrive!) they are quite easy to pull apart to get at the guts.
Simon, if no one can get an apple cd to you at humbug, you are welcome
to drop round to my place at some stage and I can have a look.
