Can't help you on that score. An alternative might be to set up a
webmail server over https, that they can use, though. That way none of
the private information is stored on the home computer at all, and users
don't have to worry about setting up any new software. No idea what
webmail software might be good; would be interested to find out though.

I was watching Today Tonight (or something similar anyway) the other week,
and saw a segment on child stalking. One of the things they recommended
to parents was buying one of those keystroke snooper devices [0] so
they can monitor their children's activities. If you're trying to keep
things private from family, it might be reasonable to warn them about
such devices -- considering they're well known enough to be mentioned
on Today Tonight. Don't know what, if anything, could be done about
software spyware.
