Hi David.

Try this: apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

Quite a bit of stuff may be installed.

Then try your install. If it still fails try: apt-get -f install. The -f
basically says go and fix what's broken in current attempts to d/l
packages. Be careful answering questions relating to package removal - do
you really want to remove them?

It's not common to get this sort of error with Stable.

Btw, when you're going - the Stable release is old but robust. The
Testing release is newer and quite stable (although I've seen problems
with KDE dependencies that have been logged as a bug). Unstable is just
that. My workstation is currently Testing with some Unstable packages (to
fix the KDE problem since my wife uses KDE on the odd occassion she uses
my Linux box).

Cheers,
	Rob
