[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Posts from non-subscribed addresses will vanish. ]
Afternoon,
For the last few hours I've been trying to find informative information
regarding VPN'ing to smoothwall boxes together.
I haven't had much luck so I thought I'd try HUMBUG.
What I have found so far is that you need a LEFT, LEFT SUBNET, LEFT
NEXT HOP,
RIGHT, RIGHT SUBNET, RIGHT
NEXT HOP ,
SECRET and a NAME.
All these things are located on a CGI page on the smoothwall box.
The secret and the name thing are not a problem.
I know the following;
LEFT = My house
RIGHT= His house.
And that his page must be exactly that same as mine.
My network is 192.168.1.0/24 gateway = 192.168.1.1
Friend 192.168.0.0/24 gateway = 192.168.0.1
we are both on the same cable network and we can ping each other's external
IP addresses.
What I am trying to ascertain is what bits of information do I put in each
box on the smoothwall VPN config page.
I have tried a number of things with no success, if anyone can help, or
provide a link to an informative site, then that would just be rock and roll.
