To quote from the vpopmail site "It works with vqadmin, qmailadmin,
vqregister, sqwebmail, and courier-imap." so my guess is that qmailadmin
is the tool of choice for the person who told you about this solution.
My main question would be have you tried poping from telnet and if so
what exactly did the server say? I can't say I see whole heaps of
information on configuration availble.

Personally in these situations I prefer to use a db or ldap for smtp/pop
authing and ensure each user has a unique username, it makes things much
easier to manage. I also user a different MTA which doesn't use the
maildir format so email is a single file for each user.

I had a minor chuckle, then I looked for vpopmail docs that might help.
I can't say I like the look of it.
