It is easier than it should be these are the steps I took to get it
going:

1. Install the rp-ppoe rpm (I'm using Mandrake and used the command
'urpmi pppoe' and everything was taken care of for me)
2. Type in 'adsl-setup' (or was that adsl-config, been a long time)
3. Enter all the relevant info, userID password, static ip or dhcp
etc.
4. Type in 'adsl-connect'
