Thanks Greg, you have answered my questions.  I was especially appreciative
of your comment re spam - it is something that had not occurred to me.  I
have my own mail and name server running with my ISP acting as a backup MX
server.  Since spam is becoming a huge problem and having just had my two
newest email addresses (one only two weeks old) spammed for the first time
this last weekend, I will now ask my ISP to "un-backup".

No doubt I will have to be far more diligent about keeping my server
running.
