[H-GEN] Strange routing and internet problems

Hi all,
I have just updated my linux RH 7 box to RH 7.2 with a fresh install.
All seems to be nice. However,
the first problem seems to be that my ifconfig output looks like this
when I am "connected to UQ via PPP"

BUT, when run route when connected to UQ i get this:

And, it doesnt seem to finish executing, i.e it just hangs there and
doesnt return to the command line unless you ^c.
If I disconnect from UQ, my route ouput takes this form but still hangs
without returing to the command line.:
[root at wintermute root]# route
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use
Iface
192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
127.0.0.0 * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
I cant seem to fix the problem, if anyone knows of a way to help, that
would be great.
