Hi Matthew,
I use to get periodic lockups with my cdburner, also using
redhat 7.2. I had an older cdburner (traxdata 2260 plus, but was in the fully
supported list) and the only way I found I could recover from any lockup was
with a reboot, and sometimes I couldn't even get that far, the whole system
would freeze solid. I had read somewhere (possibly a newsgroup) that this can
be caused with the harddrive and burner being on the same channel off the
motherboard. I'm not too sure how true this is, as in my case the harddrive
ended up dead. In the process I bought a new burner anyway. I now have my
system drive and burner on different ide channels, and I don't have any
problems.

With the ps command, it should show the status of the process, I think a D is
for defunct and is then stuck in memory, which means only a reboot will clear
it. Anyone, is this correct or only partially correct?

cheers

Johann
