I know this sounds stupid (stop laughing chookie) but try booting it
with init=/bin/bash and leave it for a while. Might possibly help
seperate the problem being in user or kernel space. What about a serial
console? Or redirecting console to a printer. Maybe your video card is
just ratsh#t! Maybe I should stop typing now.

BTW Im not sure as to the whereabouts of Eddie, lost track of the Heart
of Gold just after the incident with Hactar. Marvin died while reading
gods final message to his creation.
