article titled "Exploring the ext3 Filesystem". 

I've been running ext3 for quite sometime now, and I've not noticed any
hiccups or misbehaviour. I'd wholy recommend it over ext2. You can also
just remoev the journaling from the file system and switch the fs back
to ext2 should you not see any reason to continue using ext3.
