[H-GEN] Distro?

This is my first email in this group, so hello everyone :)

I have just reformatted my workstation. I don't really have any new distros
at home - all 2.2.x kernels, so I have decided to go for the BIG download -
or maybe even purchase - and get myself a recent linux distro.

My question is which distro should I get? Actually I will put it this way,
what is your favourite, and why? 
(I really don't want to know your least favourite, because that always
starts flame wars that go on for months :P )

My needs are Java and Blackbox, and nvidia openGL support - the rest is just
extra. So far I am leaning towards either Beehive or Icepack linux - both in
Beta production, but that's all part of the linux experience.
