If you have not heard of the Via Eden...have a look at it on the Via site.
For ebedded systems.
A full computer on a board about the size of two mobile phones.
Includes CPU (Via C3 533) runs cool and no fan is required (1V operation),
up to PC 133 SDRAM support (2 slots), Trident Blade on board, ethernet, usb,
sound and modem on the board. Via north bridge and south bridge. ATX power
connector and 2 IDE channels. Independent testing indicates about Intel
Pentium, 233 speed. The board with everything on is about 100 x 125 mm.
No FDD but presumably could be initially booted off the network or using a
CD. With a Laptop HDD could be a very small package. A friend of mine is
interested in fitting one in his car as an MP3 player.
Said to cost around $100. I am trying to get one for evaluation but so far
have not seen one "in the flesh" however others have and published test
results.
BTW the Via site is http://www.via.com.tw for those who do not know it.
Check it out it certainly looks interesting...for a router/file/print/mail
server etc it might be very useful just add a memory stick and a hard drive
oh and a power supply, anyone know a source of miniature power supplies..
