If I ever get any sort of error when using a floppy disk, I
immediately snap it in half; the data is likely to be (for my intents
and purposes) unrecoverable, and it means I won't be caught by
surprise when the damn thing breaks.

I always use Imation disks---they come in purple boxes of ten from
OfficeWorks---and they're pretty good.  Not great, but good.
