Its set as boot-device = disk
so thats not a problem, its just not finding the boot sector i think, but
the disk is working and netbsd has just been installed. Its very weird
behaviour.

I'd guess that it's been set to boot from net in the eeprom. I can't
recall the exact syntax so you may need to do a bit of searching/trying
but it goes something like this:
at the OK prompt type:
printenv (or is that print-env?)
it should list all your eeprom settings. There is one "boot-device" that
I 'spect is set to "net". Change this to "disk" or "disk0" or "disk0:a"
or somthing like this. caveat: this is assuming you are booting from
disk "0", on my ultra and LX it's set to "disk0:a net" and "disk0:a
disk" respectively.
to set the variable I think it is:
OK setenv disk0:a
or
OK detenv "disk0:a net"
