That's very interesting... md5 checksum problems? (weird).
For what it is worth, and perhaps this may be useful for people here
who do use redhat...
It is possible to rebuild the redhat installation disks to include
updates and do whatever other customisations you may want. I've
written an unofficial howto...

It needs some updates... for example, if you use the latest redhat
kernel package for rh73 then make sure you initially use lilo rather
than grub (or else the new installation won't boot properly). I've
also been given some updates to some of the scripts I've gathered
there (one of which does gpg/md5 checks on the rpm repository).
(Please don't look too closely at the homepage, not that there is
much to see... I so badly need to make some substantial updates to
it :)
