Should be. Look in init.d as I'm pretty sure that this doesn't happen in
named.conf.

All modern versions of unix use "copy on write" pages so the overheads for
unused copies really will be negligable since they largely share the same
memory areas. Otherwise copies taking up memory but that are not being
used will eventually get swapped. I don't see this as a biggie. He'll
actually give better performance to clients using his dns server as a
result of having copies pre-forked.
