I'll vote "aye" for Masqdialer as well.  It's worked well for me for
quite a while now, in a very similar situation to what you described.

You'll find the server at <http://w3.cpwright.com/mserver/>.  I use
"winMasqDialer" as my Windows client, but it seems to have dropped off
the Net.  If you want a copy, let me know and I can see if I can find
it somewhere, but I think you might have some others to choose from.

I've never worried about a Linux client--the server is very
telnet-friendly.  I just automated my interactions with nc(1) scripts.
