Dr Bill Edwards at QUT actually had an Entrepreneurship element for the
Engineering course at that establishment in the days when Venture
Capitalists were on the front cover of Time Magazine - the middle eighties.
I brought several experts in VC to Australia to talk and some quotes I liked
were:-

When told that the US venture capital market in the mid-eighties was about
$8 Billion and the assembled cash-seeking technologists all went oooh aaaah,
the speaker said in a US accent...."oh $8 Billion, the Pentagon spills that
much on the floor at morning tea time".

When asked whether it was true that US venture capitalists sought a 50% per
annum cumulative return the speaker replied "thats the kind of thing they
scrape off matador's shoes".
