Have a look at the debuglevel entry in smb.conf (see man smb.conf),
temporarily change this to a higher value (4) and try to save again,
hopefully it will fail and the log.whateveryourmachineis file will have the
details of what went wrong. Remember to change the debug back or your log
files will fill up.

Regards,
Tony

Hi All,
I've had a small problem with Samba since I upgraded my server from
RH6.2 on a P1-133 to RH7.1 on a K6-750. When I use a certain 16-bit
Windows application on my Win98Se machines, the new box sometimes
refuses to let it save files to (server) disk. If I try it again, it works
fine.
Sometimes I need to try a few times before it works. Where should I be
looking for a solution for this? Would it be permissions? Can anyone
recommend a support person/company that is not over the top price-wise?
I use up2date at least once a week to keep the RH7.1 machine current.
Regards...
