Sorry to take things away from the reason for your original posting
again Doug but this subject has me interested. I am currently in a
cooperative education position ( organised by QUT) and learning the
ropes as far as syssdmin is concerned. I thought that once I had vi
mastered the world was at my feet :~)3
Of course the situations that need ed would never be left up to me
anyway but now that I know I think I will have to take a bit of time out
to be at least familiar with ed.
Greg, thanks for the list of tasks. I will use them to check my
proficiency in vi and ed.
Thanks for the tips.
Oh for what it is worth Doug, I don't know of any 'command line' editor
that is simple. Seems to me that you have answered your own question
about the best way to do it. If you are comfortable in Windows then use
notepad let ftp do the file format coversion for you and make your life
easy.
Cheers.
Scott.
