[H-GEN] MODEM String in GNOME

If you are using kppp there is a bit in the setup that can take it. I have
not looked extensively in the Gnome dialer but I am yet to find any capacity
to insert strings. It appears to be a major problem with the Gnome dialer.
If you are using scripts you can insert modem speed information into the
sript IIRC.

I have found that a special init string is rarely needed but if it is, it
often relates to using a modem speed that is too fast for the line. I have
had a lot more trouble using Linux ppp than using Windows connections.
