Well if you have a supported printer and use something like ghostscript I
don't think it is going to make a great deal of difference.

Low end PostScript printer...is there any such thing?

The cheapest I know is a PS version of the HP1100 or some of the inkjet
printers but they are still pretty expensive. Better to get a low mileage,
second hand HP 4M or Lexmark PS or Brother (10h PS) for example. Should pick
one up under $300.

PostScript sounds pretty good because it is part and parcel of the Unix
system but I have 2 PS laser printers (one a Brother 10h - 14 mb RAM - and
the other a Lexmark Optra R+ - 32mb RAM) and I just wonder whether it is all
that important to get PS. Most people get away OK with a non-PS printer.
PS does need a lot more RAM but about an extra 4Mb is usually on the PS chip
anyway.

Might sell the 10h if anyone is interested. It has only done about 40,000
prints IIRC. Brother 10h is an HP4 clone.
