Yeah, what he said, and more of it.  CGI.pm is good stuff.

I'm occasionally beaten into maintaining some CGI written using
cgiparse (a small C proglet from the days of CERN httpd), korn shell
scripts, awk[1], sed et al...

If I ever hear of anyone else writing CGI programs like that I'm going
to kick your asses from here to breakfast.  *Nobody* should ever have
to maintain that shit.

[1] Not just trivial awk, but awk written by an anti-perl awk bigot
    who never used comments and embedded 50-line awk in-line proglets
    in the middle of enormous shell scripts.  Hi DM if you're
    reading. :-)
