If you have a "100Mb/s" hub you're SOL.  (Smack!)

You'll need a "10/100" switch/hub (as opposed to just plain 100).
Believe it or not, a 10/100 hub is a 10Mb hub and a 100Mb hub, with an
ethernet bridge between them---the protocols are in no way compatible,
and the boxes which allow you to plug both types of host in are in
fact two almost-completely-separate devices under the hood.
