First, apt-get install pppoe.
Then look at the documentation that comes with it (in /usr/doc/pppoe, or
/usr/share/doc/pppoe). It'll tell you to create a new providers file and
more or less what to put in it. You also need a chap-secrets file (I think
the pppoe stuff refers to a pap-secrets file instead), which should look
something like:
yourid at bigpond * password
And that should be all there is to it. If you add "debug" to your
providers file, you should get a fair degree of debugging info in one
of the /var/log files.
Cheers,
aj

I don't speak for anyone save myself. GPG signed mail preferred.
