Thanks for the replies folks.  At this time I'm trialing out the
flexbackup/dump solution as suggested by David, this seems well designed
and easy to operate (although I did find a glitch with the hardware
compression control with the installed version of mt).  Will have to
wait till I get in to work to see if it completed correctly (wish I had
a spare machine to do a test rebuild on).

I looked into the ArcServe thing a bit further as well.  PwC uses
ArcServe on all the major servers on the network and we have a local
Novell server that has a DLT tape drive on it.  An ArcServe version for
Linux has recently been released, so this may be a better (well, more
convenient for me anyway) option for the future, however I fear the
approvals process needed to spend money on stuff like this!
