Hi Guys,
Very general question here .. but first some config details.
We're looking at upgrading to Solaris 8 on 3 Sun boxes:a 250, a
450 and an Enterprise 3000.
All systems are patched to current recommended levels.
The 450 and the 3000 are running Solaris 2.6.1 and the 450 is
running Solaris 7.
Both the 250 and the 450 are using Sun's volume manager product
to provide software raid whilst the 3000 is using the Veritas volume
manager.
Is it possible to perform an in-place and non-destructive upgrade to
Solaris 8 ?
My fears were aroused when the upgrade process started asking
for swap space on a physical disk slice (/dev/dsk/c0t6s0) rather
than a logical one (/dev/md/dsk/...).
Not looking for detailed instructions how to - just whether or not
anyone has tried it or knows if it can be done short of blowing away
the partitions and reinstalling the OS completely ?
Cheers,
Andrew.
