   2. Sun purchases Cobalt Networks for $2 billion

   In this transaction, Sun enters the low-end server appliance
   market.  While Cobalt currently uses Linux and Intel-compatible CPUs,
   Sun expects future products to use Solaris and Sun's UltraSparc CPU.
