well netbsd was absolutely awful. the installation wasn't clear even with
the instructions and i'm sure it's my fault it didn't work. in fact, it
shattered my confidence so badly i was sure debian wasn't going to
boot.... luckily it did :-)

better is a relative term as far as i'm concerned. but there is no way i'd
let a "newbie" install debian.... in fact, due to my recent experiments
with mandrake, i'd be far more likely to recommend that than redhat.... it
does have it's flaws, but it installed without a hitch and everything was
configured so painlessly considering some of my hardware can be difficult
to set up under linux (windows loves it though :-))
