Howdy. I'm travelling overseas (to Sweden) for an exchange throughout
2001, so I'm looking to buy a notebook by the end of the year.. it
would run (only) FreeBSD. Some requirements/preferences:
 * (preferably built-in) DSP/supported modem and network adapter
 * Compact Flash card support (ie for digital camera)
 * decent display both text-mode and say, 1024x768x16bit with
    XFree86-4 support
 * minimum approx three hours battery life, and something that is
easily charged using international adapter thingos.

Any comments or suggestions? Regarding the modem, I assume I require
something approved by the relevant overseas authorities? What about
carrying laptops through airports/customs? (Some suggest removable
cdrom drives for this purpose, but I have no idea why.)

I'm after something on a "reasonable" budget (ie I'm not going to pay
$7k) and I might consider buying second-hand..

thanks
