NIST announced this morning that out of a field of fifteen candidates it has
selected the Belgian algorithm RIJNDAEL to be AES (Advanced Encryption
Standard, meant to supercede the aging DES).

Further information about RIJNDAEL (including how to pronounce it) is at
http://www.esat.kuleuven.ac.be/~rijmen/rijndael/index.html.

Further information about the AES process is at http://www.nist.gov/aes.
