Yes, there's an install time option, and I think you can also turn it on
or off later by fiddling with /etc/fstab.  

Mandrake is a very fine distribution, especially for people new to
Linux.  (However, people in that category should carefully read the
hardware compatibility list to avoid hassles later on.)
