It is kind of interesting to debate why Linux has been so much more
successful than the Hurd.  Perhaps part of it is the alledged Cathedral
approach of the Hurd developers, but another significant part is

A really practical and immediate way to educate yourself is to pick up and
absorb a paper copy of Upside or Red Herring.  The ads and content explain
the sort of information people look at when making investment decisions,
the way you have to answer the questions, and the sheer volumes of capital
floating around.  

Amongst other things, you'll likely realize that to several decimal places
of precision you have zero money.
