[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Please observe the list's charter. ]
If you are planning on purchasing a whole new environment, you may want
to look at Informix + WebDataBlade + DataDirector + a whole heap of
other web-related tools. It's the one we use here, and seems to work
quite well. I don't know the details of it, or how good the tools
actually are, as i'm not a programmer :)
I have this going with Solaris+Apache, Solaris+Netscape SecureServer and
Linux+Apache. Apparently it goes on NT+IIS as well, but i don't have
either the need or desire to make this happen ;)
You also get the associated goodies that go along with the database,
like Perl DBI drivers, PHP3 support (apparently, i haven't tested
this!), full tech support and truckloads of excellent documentation.
check out what they have to offer on their web site (www.informix.com,
if you couldn't guess ;)
