Subject: [SAGE-AU-JOBS] Perl/Python developer
Developer (Perl/Python)
Ref #0003
Job description:
Netizen require an experienced Perl and/or Python developer. You
would be working on a range of projects encompassing all kinds of Open
Source technologies, but a typical example would be a 50 hour web-based
application with database backend for a medium-sized business.
We're pretty flexible on exactly what you'd be doing. For instance, you
would have considerable control over your choice of tools, level of
direct client contact, and the nature of the projects you would work on.
One particularly exciting internal project is the development of the Xen
project management system, a Zope-based project/task/contact/etc system
scheduled for 1.0 release in early 2000.
The position is based in the Melbourne CBD, though telecommute
opportunities are available provided you are able to be at the office
for staff meetings and other necessary interactions. Netizen may be
able to sponsor relocation costs within Australia, but cannot sponsor
overseas applicants at this point in time.
Responsibilities:
- Internal development projects including Xen project management system,
e-commerce tools, web-based applications, etc
- Client development: projects ranging from 2 hours to 2 months, using
a range of Open Source technologies
Skills required:
- Perl or Python (1-2 years experience)
- Database experience (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc)
- Linux, FreeBSD or other Unix experience to junior sysadmin level
Remumeration: $35,000-$40,000 plus profit share. Performance and salary
review at 6 months.
Other benefits:
- Fun, informal office environment (beanbags!)
- Flexible hours
- No dress code
- No NT
- Copious, high-quality caffeine supplies
- Inflatable toys and lego in office
- Large O'Reilly library
- Permanent dialup Internet connection
- Non-pointy-haired management
- Freedom to do cool stuff
- Open source advocacy encouraged
Send resumes and a brief outline of why you're the sort of person we'd
like to work with (TEXT FORMAT ONLY, NO MS WORD) to jobs at netizen.com.au
