[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]

This is a *little* bit of a Furphy[1]. Very few fires are caused by the
"hard drive"[2]. Many more fires are caused by monitors however. Monitors
are evil, particularly when they get old. Monitor cases being mostly made
from nice looking, highly combustible plastics tend to burn exceedingly well
8^).

There is not really very many combustible pieces inside a computer, I guess
the power supply would be the most likely part to catch fire, but being all
metal enclosed would not be very likely to spread.

That said, they can be a little noisy, can't they Paul??

Cheers
Michael

P.S. Buy smoke detectors

[1] Read Bruce Courtneys latest book, Solomon's Song, for a good explanation
of the etymology of that word. My previous understanding of it was close to
the mark, but not 100% correct.
[2] As so many of the lusers in the office tend to refer to the case
containing the mother board, drives et al. *chuckle*
