What you are encountering is not totally unknown. It has been reported several
times before.

I believe (although I have not confirmed myself) that Red Hat 6.1 works Ok.

There is some discussion that the problem relates to a false cache size return
from the Duron chip. Returning a cache size of 1K instead of 64k. I am told it
was a bug in the first Duron production runs.

However it could be that the kernel does not support Durons adequately yet, not
sure.

Try RH 6.1, errors like this are reported using RH 6.2 and Mandrake 7.1

I believe that there is something on the AMD site about the L2 cache reporting
bug.

Here is a statement from Alan Cox (Linux kernel GURU)

"The relevant errata fixes are in current 2.2.17pre. I would like to know if
they work as I don't have a chip with
this bug to check. Its actually basically harmless. The cache is really there
and really used."

At this stage I do not know of a fix but I have not fiully researched it.
