Having said that, you obviously wouldn't want to use conio.h in new
applications, only in helping port from DOS.  Johnson & Troan `Linux
Application Development' if I remember correctly has a very good
description of how to move from the DOS way of thinking (write to
video quickly) to Unix (apps can run remotely across platforms.).
