Nope, that gives me an error:
(I linked /usr/bin/as86 to /usr/bin/as)
as86: unrecognized option `-0'
make[1]: *** [bbootsect.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.2.14/arch/i386/boot'
make: *** [bzImage] Error 2

Bummer.  Any other ideas?  Any idea why, if binutils is installed,
as86 has not been installed?
