Bit of lateral thinking...if you printed out the small jpeg on a reasonable
laser printer and then photographically enlarged it, there is a real
possibility of getting sufficient quality for a screen print.

Why think of a new technology solution when an existing and probably superior
solution already exists? Why do we spend a fortune on DVD to play movies when
we already have video recorders? Well the royal we anyway...does Linux support
DVD?
