When I mount my FAT32 partition under linux it simulates the rights

-rwxr-xr-x    root    root

Does anyone know how to change that to 775, I have tried chmod but it doesn't
work. I have tried and tried but can't understand the 'sticky bit' part of
rights. Would that be of any assistance in this situation?
