[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and
Unix-related topics. ]

( This post is long and tactful ramble. Please read all of it )

In the beginning...

Humbug ran over one mailing list, being 'humbug-l at mailbox.uq.edu.au'.
When we obtained the 'humbug.org.au' domain, this was shifted to
'humbug at humbug.org.au'.

Over time, the traffic on this single list became too great, and the list
was split up into three lists, being:

	announce at lists.humbug.org.au
	general at lists.humbug.org.au
	chat at lists.humbug.org.au

Each of these lists have a different 'charter', or expected type of posts
to be made to it. You can receive the seperate descriptions of each list
by composing an email to 'majordomo at lists.humbug.org.au' with the
following:

	To: majordomo at lists.humbug.org.au
Subject: Majordomo does not care about this line

	info announce
	info general
	info chat
	end

I would encourage everyone on the Humbug General list to do the above, and
think about the posts that they have made to the Humbug General list over
the past month or so, and ask yourselves the following questions:

Have the posts been on topic?
Have they been sent to the correct list?
Are your posts even remotely related to Humbug or Unix?

If you have been posting to the Humbug general list recently, and answer
'Yes' to every one of the above questions, for each and every one of your
posts, then I would happily call you a liar ;)

Please consider what you send to the Humbug general list *before* you send
it. A large number of the posts are more appropriate for the Humbug chat
list.

Of course, there is always the option of someone moderating the list,
which is a draconian solution which I personally will not like
implementing.
