[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and
Unix-related topics. ]

Hi All,

A friend of mine (honest) has been trying to install Linux on his computer
alongside Windows 98 and Windows 2000 and is having some problems.

1. If there is both an AGP and PCI video card in the computer, Linux install
crashes and prompts with only LI upon boot (RedHat 6, Caldera and some other
distro have all been tried).

2. If the AGP card (Banshee) is the only card in the system when installing
Linux, all works fine. Then as soon as the PCI card (Matrox) is inserted,
LI is as far as booting gets. This occurs even though the BIOS is set to
boot AGP first.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?

Regards,
Hilton Travis
