[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and
Unix-related topics. ]

I have just got a new machine to run linux on (Mandrake 6.1)
specs
	celeron 333
	Gigabyte BXC
	64 meg
	Trio 3D/2X 4meg
	creative/ensoniq 128
	dlink 530 Tx netcard
	msmouse 2.1a

that's probably all the major components it does have floppy, cdrom, hdd

now my problem is this linux runs lightning fast until I load X from there
is chugs (I have written this email had breakfast and it still hasn't fully
gotten into kde) now I have recompiled the kernel so it is running as a PII
type processor and killed off a lot of the extra things that were defaulted
in the kernel (eg getting rid of a lot of the scsi bits and a bunch of
other stuff )
now it was doing this before the kernel recompile.
aside from those dedicated to CLI getting that warm feeling that they have
a case against X are there any ideas as to what could be the problem
