Hi All,

I am trying to install Linux (RedHat 5.2 from the APC PocketBook) on my
machine which is currently a WinNTW/Win98 dual/boot system configured as
follows (IBM 7200rpm 14GB EIDE HDD):-

Partition Type	FileSystem	Size Contains
Primary FAT-16	2000MB	Win 98 boot and apps
Extended 11782MB
Logical unformatted	1789MB	hopefully for Linux
  Logical Fat-16	635MB Data (CD-R sized!!!)
Logical NTFS 2000MB	Windows NT Wkstn 4.0 SP4
Logical FAT-32	7358MB	Win98 data and misc stuff

If I install Linux onto the 1789MB partition (1600MB for Linux, 189MB for
swap), and LILO to the boot sector, when I reboot the machine, I get "LI"
and hang...

If I blow away all the partitions, and try to install Linux to a 900MB
partition, I get the same error. Same with my old 8GB hard drive (IBM
5400rpm EIDE).

Is there a version of Linux that works with drives over 1024 cylinders (I'm
assuming this is the problem). If not, I may have to dedicate an old '486
to be a Linux box. I intend in the future to install Linux on my Amiga
3000/040 that is currently acting as a very effective paperweight. I want
to try it on a PC first - long time since I used the Amy, and I don't
remember a lot about it.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Hilton Travis
